The CoastWA Grants are now open for applications.

There are four streams of funding available, which are administered by the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and the Department of Transport and Major Infrastructure.

The Coastal Management Plan Assistance Program provide grants of up to $200,000 to develop coastal hazard risk management and adaptation plans (CHRMAP), foreshore management plans, and implementation of actions arising from previously prepared CHRMAPs.

Coastwest provides grants of between $5,000 and $60,000 to local governments or community groups to undertake projects which rehabilitate, restore and enhance coastal areas. Examples of Coastwest projects may include the implementation of coastal plans and strategies, supporting capacity building of communities to increase their involvement in coastal zone management activities and identification and
monitoring of environmental values.

Coastal Adaptation and Protection (CAP) grants are available to local governments and State agencies to assist local coastal managers with identifying and adapting to coastal hazards. Examples include supporting coastal monitoring, investigation, asset management, coastal adaptation and maintenance works. Grants of $20,000 to $500,000 are available.

The H-CAP Major Project Fund provides financial assistance to coastal managers for strategic coastal adaptation projects at the State’s 55 coastal erosion hotspots. H-CAP grants can be received where the project addresses management of a significant erosion or inundation location and is aligned with a completed CHRMAP for the site.
