Noongar Cultural Walk at Whitfords Nodes Park

One of the highlights of the WA Tree Festival in Perth was a Noongar Cultural Walk along the coast, held on the 4th May 2024.

Guided by Wadjuk Traditional Owner, Olman Walley, the walks meandered through the bushland at Whitfords Nodes Park and along the coast of Hillary Foreshore.

Olman shared fascinating stories and insights  about ways in which we can look after Boodjah (Country).

The experience was both educational and immersive, as Olman shared his kaartdijin (knowledge) about the land, ocean, plants, and animals that make up the local environment. Olman’s didgeridoo performances brought his stories to life, and were a highlight of the day.

This event was part of the WA Tree Festival and organized by the City of Joondalup, Friends of Hillarys and Kallaroo Foreshore, and Perth NRM, with support from the Western Australian Government’s State NRM Program.
